Photoshop – Magazine

Posted: October 24th, 2008 | Author: Mr Laroza | Filed under: 3D Design Tutorials, Photoshop | No Comments »

We have covered a lot of tools over this term. To round it all up its time to put those skills into practice. So this week I'm going to be asking you to produce a magazine front cover. You know how to research, import pictures, transform pictures, add fonts, change fonts, clip fonts, clip pictures... and more!

Choose an existing title to re-design or choose from either:

Dazed and Confused Vogue
EVO EDGE

The magazine cover can include anything you want but it has to:

Be an existing title
A4 in size (100 resolution)
Have at least 4 headlines
At least 3 different fonts
At least one large picture

Here's one I tried with Dazed and Confused:

Photoshop – Recap

So its been a few weeks now and we've covered a few things including the text, clipping, importing images and many more. This weeks lesson we'll be recapping what we have covered with a few little exercises. Most of which are covered in the following .pdf file for you to print off.

> > > R E C A P < < <

After the recap we will start our first exercise which will be on text manipulation. We shall first start with a famous saying, in this case we'll use 'The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog'. To find out why this is famous have a look at Wikipedia.org.

The quick brown...

Then we are going to take each word and change either the size, colour, font, rotation (and anything else you can think of.) like so:

The quick brown... 2

Then we are going to add a few more techniques into the equation:

The quick brown... 3

In the example above we imported images and used a 'clipping mask', all of which we have already covered before. If you can do that there is a few more exercises we can do.
